October saw the launch of an exciting new initiative from Lodge Service Charity, in the form of dedicated training presentations and workshops designed to up-skill charity retail teams on ways of managing the increasing levels of customer abuse and shop theft which is sadly affecting all sectors of retail.
Delivered both in-person and through remote webinars, the sessions draw on our extensive experience in charity retail loss prevention and utilises nationally approved videos and handout provided through our colleagues at the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC).
With a focus on staff safety and conflict avoidance / de-escalation, we have also recently partnered with the Charity Retail Learning Academy to deliver bespoke remote sessions to their members, enabling us to reach a wide audience across the sector.
The sessions are attracting some fantastic client feedback, with Katie Stuart-Cox, Head of Retail, Helen & Douglas House Hospice, commenting,
“Thank you to Lodge Service and in particular to Pete Thomas, for delivering a great workshop on ‘Dealing with Customer Abuse & Shoplifting’.
It is vital to invest in retail shop teams and train them on how to deal with these potentially aggressive situations. Having the skill set to diffuse things is key.
Thanks again Pete and Lodge!”
