Based in Cirencester, Lodge Service is a family-owned company which was established in 1919 by the grandfather of Stuart Lodge, the present CEO. 

Established initially as a loss prevention company, the business has expanded over the years and now employs over 900 staff in the UK, Ireland and Europe, plus a well-respected business operating in South Africa, providing services which include manned guarding, security screening and vetting and a full range of technical solutions.

Lodge Service Charity draws on the expertise, experience and reputation of the Lodge Group by providing specialist loss prevention & security support to the charity retail sector. 

With a proven track record of over 30 years of working closely with the sector (Charity Retail Association Corporate Members for over 15 years), Lodge Service have an unrivalled knowledge of charity loss prevention and proven methods of reducing internal and external theft thorough both proactive and reactive loss control measures.

The division is led by Pete Thomas, who has over 16 years’ experience at Lodge Service, specialising in charity retail loss, plus a background gained within commercial loss prevention and over 20 years of public sector policing.

Pete is a well-known and respected figure in the charity retail sector and a familiar face at Charity Retail Association Conferences, both at national and local level, having presented workshops to large number of delegates over the years.   An acknowledged expert in his field, Pete has also been invited to speak on local radio on a number of occasions, leading debate around such subjects as charitable donations and cash and stock loss issues.

Working closely with the CRA, Pete was responsible for producing the widely acclaimed ‘Profit by Protection’ security manual, which aims to provide guidance to retail teams dealing with potential security and loss prevention issues at shop level 

Pete has also provided specialist loss prevention content for the Charity Retail Learning online security workshop, sharing sector best practice and personal experiences.
