The results of British Retail Consortium Crime Survey were released last week and show a concerning increase in violence and abuse towards #shopworkers.
Here are just a few of the shocking statistics:
📌 Just over 1,300 violent or abusive incidents a day, up from almost 870
📌 Incidents of customer theft rose to 16.7 million, up from 8 million
📌 Overall cost of retail crime including crime prevention measures was £3.3bn, almost double the previous year.
📌 Only 36% of incidents of violence and abuse were reported to police by retainers.
