CASE STUDY – REFUND FRAUD
Another major success for the team this week, although disappointing for the charity involved. A recent compliance audit conducted by one of our team raised concerns around a missing audit trail for a number of cash refunds, which was verified using Transpeye, our data mining software.
A subsequent investigation, involving reviewing relevant till point CCTV, quickly established that a member the shop management team was processing fraudulent refunds using discarded customer till receipts and then pocketing the money. Once the CCTV footage was shown to the staff member, a confession quickly followed and the individual was dismissed, with further action being considered.
